Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing singer from rock. She performed on the streets and was first noticed by Immortal in the year 1995. Her unfiltered, outspoken personality, musicianship and emotion-filled live performances have attracted the attention of fans. "Hart is the definition of a woman who is natural," wrote Chuck Taylor in the October 2nd, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine. She's "bawdy and hilarious, chatty and fluttering around with her choice of spiced words. It's not what she's really good at. She's an elegant, tall singer/songwriter who struts and squalls songs with the enthusiasm and vim of Mick Jagger . Other times , she's on the piano or at the at the center stage with no formality. Her legs are crossed to the edge of the chair, and she sings in a soft, aching voice. Hart was a teen who participated in amateur competitions and had similar reactions. But she did have doubts about the music industry before she embarked on her professional career. Then, the globe-trotting over proved detrimental to her band, and Hart disappeared from the scene for almost four years. This was a period that was spent contemplating her feelings and tackling problems through writing music. The year 1999 saw Hart returned to her professional career with the critically well-reviewed Screamin' for My Supper. The album saw Hart's songwriting talents develop with vulnerable and honest songs that address the challenges of life.
